Should Financially literacy be taught in schools?
According to the Federal Government and best selling author of ‘What I Didn’t Learn At School But Wish I Had’, self-made Millionaire Jamie McIntyre, the answer is YES.

Mr McIntyre was one of the main campaigners that led the Howard Federal Government to commit millions to introduce Financial Literacy into schools. Testimonials:

The one hundred students from Mansfield State High School who attended the Youth Summit on Monday 31 May 2010 were very appreciative of the experience. The students reported delightedly that:

• they went home and shared their experiences with their parents
• they gained soooooo many good ideas and so much motivation from the Summit
• they would do some things differently now
• they were thrilled to receive the books.

The only aspect that they felt they would have loved more detail about was how to become a millionaire…the nitty gritty and some practical ideas! Maybe another session could be conducted to cover this. It would be a little like a mass mentoring programme.

Attached are some of the ideas presented. These will be offered to students and staff who would like to make a mini-book to leave around to inspire themselves (and maybe others). It is small enough to sit on a bathroom shelf or in the car or in a pocket to peruse on the way to school.

If you have any books spare, we would love to have ten copies of each of the three titles (11 of the Google one) to place in the library:
• What I didn’t learn at school but wish I had      by Jamie McIntyre
• Think and Grow Rich!                                    by Jamie McIntyre
• What I didn’t learn from Google but wish I had by Jamie McIntyre

Is that a possibility? We will also advise parents of their existence.

Please pass on our gratitude to all of the presenters. All of them were enjoyed immensely. Special thanks go to Jamie for his generosity in instigating such a wonderful programme for young people. The fact that our school was given the basketball signed by Eric Bailey was also a real treat.

Thank you so much for everything.
Kindest regards

Took my children… it was a very inspirational event. It is fantastic that Jamie McIntyre is exposing youths to this sort of information… he's a hero in my books.
Eric Bailey was incredible - he was so inspiring. He could be a stand up comic… very funny.
